The aim of the proposed research is to analyse and compare civil society and public opinion on civic engagement within the V4 countries. This analysis will draw on representative surveys conducted in all 4 countries. There is a lack of knowledge on the condition of civil society in the V4 countries and on public opinion on the role of civic engagement in this region. In the past few years, all of the 4 countries have experienced turbulent political challenges which sparked discussions of the state of democracy and the rule of law. Moreover, these events sparked significant protests and civic engagement. Recent surveys conducted by our agency have revealed that there is a large public support to bigger civic engagement. The proposed project will investigate in detail what are the means and aims of this civic engagement according to the public. Moreover the project will provide analysis of these issues in all V4 countries. How active are the citizens of these countries today? How do they view the development of democracy in their countries and are they bothered by the same problems? In three years duration of the project, we will try to answer these questions and many more. Follow us!
